Steve Jalsevac is the co-founder and managing director of LifeSiteNews.com. Steve and his wife Bonnie are the parents of 8 children and the grandparents of 14.
After several months travelling the world with Bonnie soon after their marriage, Steve owned and operated a series of interior decorating stores for 10 years.
In 1977, Steve experienced a profound conversion back to his Catholic faith. Soon afterwards he was motivated to volunteer for Canada’s national pro-life organization, Campaign Life Coalition (CLC). He soon gave up the financial rewards of his successful business to join the pro-life organization full time.
Steve has been a leader in CLC for over 30 years and has served in a wide variety of senior roles within the organization. In 1997 he began and managed for almost a decade the websites for CLC and the national pro-life newspaper, the Interim. With editor-in-chief John-Henry Westen and CLC, he also co-founded the now influential, separately incorporated (U.S. and Canadian divisions) non-profit, LifeSiteNews international news service on life, family and related cultural issues.
LifeSite, from its beginning, reported on its issues from an international perspective because of the eye-opening experiences learned from Campaign Life Coalition’s lobbying at numerous United Nations conferences.
Steve has been the Managing Director of LifeSiteNews since it began. He also acts as a frequent writer and commentator and is increasingly called to speak on behalf of LifeSite, even having giving a whole day of talks to Mexico’s pro-life leaders in Mexico City. Steve regularly travels to Rome, Washington, and other international locations for events and conferences for on-site reporting and to meet and strategize with many of the world’s leaders within the life and family movements.
