Mr. D’Souza was born in 1961 in Mumbai in India and raised as a Christian. According to the on-line Conservapedia “Today he is mostly involved with exposing the contradictions and hypocrisy of atheists, and the censorship of Christian leadership in the modern world. He regularly participates in debates with new atheists. These have included Christopher Hitchens (6 times), Daniel Dennett (once), Peter Singer (twice), Dan Barker (twice), and Michael Shermer (twice).”
Mr. D’Souza, whose clear thinking ability to provide evidence about the existence of God, has earned him the title of being called “the modern day C.S.Lewis”. D’Souza has turned the anti-Christian liberal media and academia on their heads with his humorous but brilliant logic that intelligently takes the PC views of these groups and proves the absurdity of their arguments. He is particularly adept at using the atheists’ argument that “science proves there is no God” and demonstrating the exact opposite – that is: science continues to prove the existence of God!
Dinesh D’Souza is the president of King’s Collage in New York and served as an advisor to President Ronald Regan. D’Souza visited Cleveland in March 2010 as a guest speaker at the first “Bringing America Back to Life” Symposium a few weeks after his book “Life After Death” had been released. And his book “Roots of Obama’s Rage” was on sale at the 2011 Symposium.
Dan Barker, a a former Evangelical Pastor now believes that there is no god in the universe. He has written several books including: “Just Pretend: A Freethought Book for Children”, “Losing Faith in Faith: From Preacher To Atheist” and “Godless: How An Evangelical Preacher Became One of America’s Leading Atheists”. “The Good Atheist: Living a Purpose-Filled Life Without God” will be published soon.
According to the Freedom From Religion website “ He is a professional pianist and composer. He speaks around the U.S. and internationally about atheism, free-thought and religion’s failures.” The organization is described thus: “The Freedom From Religion Foundation, based in Madison, Wis., is a national association of freethinkers (atheists, agnostics) that has been working since 1978 to keep church and state separate”
Mr. Barker’s organization has received much attention recently when large billboard appeared around the country with messages such as “Yes Virginia, there is no God” and “Reason’s Greetings”. This caused many Christian pastors to counter with billboards supporting the Christian message that God is alive and well. CCN Belief Blog quotes one pastor as saying: “We decided to counterpunch after a donor came forward seeking to challenge the anti-Christmas statement” said Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, a New York-based Catholic advocacy group. The billboards caught the attention of columnists and editors to set off a string of op-ed and opinion articles around the country. Regina Bret of the Plain Dealer was one of the columnists to jump into the fray, which sparked several “letters to the editor” from readers.
Mr. Barker’s organization is one of the leading opponents of recognizing the Christmas season as a Christian holiday. He also opposes any form of Christian prayer or Christian display in public places.
While only 15% of the American population are atheists this does not stop this group from insisting that even the USA’s armed forces should be forced to defend their country without their pastor at their side. One of FFR’s latest targets is the US Military Chaplin – the organization wants them gone.
Mr. Barker has debated Mr. D’Souza on two prior occasions.
