John Smeaton

John Smeaton is the Chief Executive Director of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC), the UK’s largest and the world’s oldest pro-life organization. Smeaton has been working with SPUC in various capacities for nearly 40 years after establishing a branch in south London in 1974. Smeaton was also elected vice-president of the International Right to Life Federation in 2005, and attended UN Conferences where he helped coordinate more than 150 pro-life/pro-family groups resulting in pro-life victories in Cairo, Istanbul, and Rome. He was educated at Salesian College and Oxford and comes to us all the way from his home in London, England, where he resides with his wife, Josephine. Smeaton was recently given the 2013 Cardinal John J. O’Connor Pro-Life Award by the Pro-Life Committee of Legatus. The Committee said that “John Smeaton’s long history of work with life issues dating back to 1975 provides him with a wealth of knowledge, experience and insight to effectively deal with present-day threats to human life … John has actually been making a gift of his own life for the sake of saving lives.”
