Dr. William Thierfelder

Dr. Bill Thierfelder is the President of Belmont Abbey College outside of Charlotte, NC, where he lives with his wife and ten children. Dr. Thierfelder is a champion in the fight for religious freedom by initiating the first lawsuit against the federal government over the HHS mandate.

Prior to his appointment at Belmont, Dr. Thierfelder led a very successful career in sports and sports medicine/psychology. A licensed psychologist, Dr. Thierfelder got his doctorate in Sports Psychology and Human Movement at Boston University. He has helped thousands of athletes improve their performance–including over a hundred athletes at the Olympic and professional levels in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. He is a former NCAA Division I Coach, two-time All-American at the University of Maryland, and Olympian in Track and Field (although he did not compete due to injury).

In 2013, Dr. Thierfelder authored a book, Less Than a Minute to Go, and all royalties from the sale of the book are donated to Belmont.
